Fundraising

We believe in giving back and there are some very worthy causes that NW8-mums actively fundraises for. Many of the events NW8-mums organises are free, but we often ask for donations which go to one of the charities below. Even before the Covid-19 pandemic, Karin organised a few fundraising events annually.

However, during the Covid-19 pandemic NW8-mums joined forces with KinderGifts and since then we have put on talks on anything from nutrition, mental health, skincare, education to many more subjects. During the first half of 2021, we managed to raise around £1500 to many local charities through our talks. It has been humbling to see our community coming together, attending our talks and helping us help these wonderful and deserving charities.

St John’s Hospice is a local hospice that helps people regardless of their financial situation. Karin has personal friends and neighbours who have been cared for by them. Karin has raised funds for them on several occasions both privately and through NW8-mums.

One local charity is Little Village Camden and we always suggest that the members of NW8-mums donate items to them.

A cause that Karin is passionate about is mental health. Karin suffered from bad perinatal and postnatal depression with both her children. A local charity that she received support from is Cocoon Family Support. They do amazing work.

Tanyel’s Smile is a charity that is close to Karin’s heart. Karin knows her parents and went through the journey of Tanyel’s cancer and subsequent death together with them. What her lovely parents have achieved in Tanyel’s name is beyond inspiring. And, the money received goes to children who really need it.

Karin has done a number of fundraising races for The Lady Garden Foundation in aid of the Gynaecological Cancer Fund. What they are doing is incredible and hugely important to women all over the world.
